What this tool checks

RDAP Protocol

Uses the modern RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) — the official replacement for WHOIS. Falls back to traditional WHOIS text when needed.

25+ TLDs Supported

Supports .com, .net, .org, .io, .co, .uk, .ca, .de, .fr, .au, .dev, .app, .xyz, and many more top-level domains.

Domain Age

Calculates how long the domain has been registered — useful for SEO analysis, trust evaluation, and competitive research.

Expiry Countdown

Shows days until expiration with color-coded urgency — red for under 30 days, yellow for under 90, so you never miss a renewal.

Nameserver Detection

Lists all nameservers and who controls the domain's DNS — quickly identify hosting provider and DNS configuration.

Registrant Info

Shows available registrant details — organization, country, and contact information when not privacy-protected.

Common questions

What information does a WHOIS lookup show?
Domain name, registrar, creation date, expiration date, last updated date, nameservers, DNSSEC status, and registrant details (when not privacy-protected). We also calculate domain age and days until expiry.
Why is registrant info hidden?
Many domain owners use WHOIS privacy protection (offered by registrars) to hide personal details. This is normal and legal. You'll see the privacy service's info instead.
What's the difference between WHOIS and RDAP?
RDAP is the modern replacement for WHOIS. It returns structured JSON data over HTTPS instead of raw text over TCP port 43. We use RDAP first (more reliable, better structured) and fall back to traditional WHOIS when needed.
How accurate is the expiry date?
Very accurate — we pull it directly from the registry. However, many domains auto-renew, so an approaching expiry doesn't necessarily mean the domain will become available.
